Moved to Australia 5 months ago and it was a major adjustment for me. The first 2-3 months was a struggle: I needed to put the inner diva in me to sleep so, I can save money to enroll in pole and dance classes. I missed teaching, I missed going to studio, my students and PERFORMING. I was born to perform and it was just hard to accept that I won't be able to perform anymore. I enrolled to Sky Sirens for Term 5 and I received an email announcement that they are looking for performers in their upcoming show. Thought about it for a week and sent my submission on the last day without a good video to submit. I just sent 2 freestyle videos of me. In my mind, I was like "fuck this. Its fine if I don't get chosen.." A week after, I received an email from Sky Sirens announcing that I am part of the performers and I get to perform POLE! I was happy! I trained for 2 weeks - or more like 6 days to create a good piece. My first 2 practice sessions were such a struggle. Couldn't come up with an intro and couldn't think of any tricks to do. I regressed after not training on pole for a month (I enrolled to Bobbi's Pole August 2019 and enrolled to Sky Sirens in September). But at the same time, I knew that I was beating myself up for having negative thoughts to myself. On the 3rd practice session, I told myself "FOCUS ON YOUR FLOW". Repeated this many times while on my way to the studio and it made a huge change. I was able to finish the first half of my piece. At the event, I met talented Australian pole, and aerial performers. I was amazed how talented these people are and how passionate they are with their craft. Katia, the owner of Sky Sirens was a goddess with her performance. I wish to do more pole and aerial performances in Sydney. Hoping I get to perform sling next time :)
